What is TruFUSE®?
TruFUSE is a uniquely designed tapered bone dowel used to address symptomatic back pain from a diseased facet joint.
The TruFUSE minimally invasive procedure utilizes special instruments to insert the TruFUSE bone dowel between the facet
joints to provide immediate stabilization and relief of pain. TruFUSE can be used either as a stand-alone procedure or as
an adjunct to augment other fusion techniques and motion limiting products.
Other treatment methods of facet disease and pain can be used, but many are short term answers to a long term problem.
Back pain sufferers often initially try clinical solutions such as pain medication, physical therapy, steroid injections, acupuncture
or laser ablation. Traditional fusion, with a deep incision, is often completed by placing pedicle screws into the vertebrae
and connecting them with metal rods resulting in a major surgery and loss ot time from work.
The diagram below shows how TruFUSE offers an alternative solution between non-surgical medical treatment and major fusion surgery.

Thousands of TruFUSE surgeries have occurred to date, with the first procedure performed in March 2006.
The TruFUSE technique has been appreciated by many, and could result in many benefits including:
- Reduced time in the hospital
- Reduction in pain along with faster healing
- Fewer missed days at work
- Less blood loss
